Digital Tasbih Counter

Your dhikr, counted. Your prayer times, worked out on your phone.

Digital Tasbih Counter counts your dhikr, with the set after every prayer that moves from SubhanAllah to Alhamdulillah to Allahu Akbar by itself, every common phrase in Arabic with its meaning, and sets of your own. Prayer times for where you are, a Qibla compass and the Hijri calendar are worked out on your phone, offline.

What it does

What Digital Tasbih Counter does

The tasbih after every prayer

SubhanAllah 33, Alhamdulillah 33 and Allahu Akbar 34, as taught in Sahih Muslim 596. At 33 the phone knocks twice and the set moves on by itself; at the end, three pulses and the star turns gold.

Every dhikr, with its meaning

Each phrase in Arabic, with how to say it and what it means. Count to 33, 99, 100 or any number, add your own phrases, and make sets of your own.

Count without looking

Tap the star or press a volume button. A short tick confirms every count, even with your phone's touch vibration off.

Prayer times for where you are

Calculated on your phone with the method your mosques use, from Umm al-Qura and Karachi to JAKIM, Kemenag and Diyanet. Match your mosque to the minute, and turn on a notification for any prayer.

Qibla compass

The compass turns with your phone and shows the direction of the Kaaba, with a gentle tap when you face it.

The Hijri calendar

Today's date, the month beside the Gregorian dates, and the days ahead: Ramadan, the two Eids, the Day of Arafah, the Islamic New Year and Ashura. Adjustable for your local moon sighting.

The next prayer on your home screen

A widget with the next prayer, the Hijri date and today's times.

Your data stays yours

Everything is stored on your phone, and the app has no internet access. Back up to a file, restore it on a new phone, or delete everything in one tap.

Privacy

Nothing leaves your phone

Digital Tasbih Counter has no internet access at all and collects nothing. Your counts (each day's phrases and completed sets), your own phrases and sets, the place you chose for prayer times and your settings are stored only on your device. If you tap "Use my location", the app reads your approximate location once, turns it into the name of the nearest town on your device and keeps it with your settings to work out prayer times and the direction of the Qibla. It never leaves your device: the app has no internet access.

Questions

Which tasbih after prayer does it count?

SubhanAllah 33, Alhamdulillah 33 and Allahu Akbar 34 (Sahih Muslim 596), or 33 each with La ilaha illallahu wahdahu once to complete a hundred (Sahih Muslim 597). You choose; the set moves from phrase to phrase by itself.

Can I count without looking at the screen?

Yes. Press a volume button to count. You feel a tick for each count, two knocks when a phrase is done and three pulses at the end of the round.

Which prayer-time method does it use?

The one usual where you are, chosen for you when you set your location: Umm al-Qura in Saudi Arabia, Karachi with Hanafi Asr in Pakistan, JAKIM in Malaysia, Kemenag in Indonesia, Diyanet in Turkey and so on. You can choose any of 23 methods, Hanafi or standard Asr, and move any time by a few minutes to match your mosque.

Does it need my location?

No. You can choose your city from a list of more than 30,000 towns. If you prefer, the app reads your approximate location once; it stays on your phone and is never sent anywhere.

How accurate is the Hijri date?

It follows the Umm al-Qura calendar. Where months begin with the sighting of the new moon they can start a day earlier or later, so you can move the calendar by up to two days.

Does it play the adhan?

Not in this version. A prayer notification uses your phone's own notification sound.

Does it work offline?

Always. The app has no internet access at all; prayer times, the Qibla and the calendar are all worked out on your phone.

What data does it collect?

None. Your counts and your location stay on your phone. There is no account, no analytics and no ads. When you buy the app, Google Play sends us a record of the sale without your name or email address; the privacy policy says exactly what it contains.

How much does it cost?

You pay once, on Google Play, in your own currency: US$2.99 in the United States. There are no ads, no subscription and nothing more to buy, every update is included, and it is yours on any Android phone signed in to the same Google account.

Is it sold in my country?

It is on Google Play in 24 countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. If you would like it where you live, tell us from the support page.

Can I get a refund?
